The Center for Resilient Communities (CRC) supports different activities to promote and raise awareness on the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are central for and inform the daily work of the Team of the CRC.
sUSTAINABLE dEVELOPMENT DAY 2021
On Thursday, December 2, 2021, the West Virginia University Center for Resilient
Communities, in conjunction with the Department of Geology and Geography in the
Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, hosted the first Sustainable Development
Goals Day at WVU in Brooks Hall.
Centering a museum-style exhibit of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the third floor of Brooks Hall, the day’s events sought to elevate dialogue on the SDGs, highlight the commitment of our students and faculty to the goals, and explore the relevance of our work (both in research and action) to a unifying vision of a more sustainable future.
Further activities throughout the day included an open house at the Center for Resilient
Communities, a celebration of the Sustainable Development Interns into the Spring
program, a film-screening of
Nations United: Urgent Solutions for Urgent Times
, and a space to connect and build community for raising awareness over the UN
Agenda 2030 and the SDGs. Hundreds of students explored the exhibit and engaged
in meaningful conversations with faculty, staff, and graduate students about our
hopes for a better world.
