Eberly College and Center for Resilient Communities will Foster Collaboration and Strengthen Community-engaged Research Efforts

The West Virginia University Eberly College of Arts and Sciences has expanded the role of its Center for Resilient Communities to support college-wide efforts that foster community-engaged research with undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty.“Eberly College is excited to support the Center for Resilient Communities,” said Gregory Dunaway, dean of the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. “The Center aligns well with our commitment to promote community engaged learning and research to partner with communities around West Virginia to better serve their needs. It is critically important for this work to be done and in doing so we further fulfill our institutional land grant mission.”

The Center for Resilient Communities (CRC) was established in 2019 through generous support from the One Foundation. It facilitates a process of shared learning and experimentation that helps drive action research and community transformation to create more equitable, just and strong communities. The CRC has supported research internships for more than 80 undergraduate students and fourteen graduate research projects since its inception.

The CRC will soon seek increased faculty collaboration and community partnerships as it works to build funded projects in areas such as regional food systems, disaster preparedness, food justice, energy transitions, community economic transformation and more. “Our team at the Center for Resilient Communities is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead to collaborate as we support our students and colleagues across campus and our community partners across the state,” says Bradley Wilson, the CRC’s executive director. "Eberly College faculty and students are taking inspired steps to meeting our land-grant mission in our communities."
